India’s White-Ball Squad for England Series Announcement Imminent
The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to commence on February 19, 2025, with matches to be held in Pakistan and Dubai.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to commence on February 19, 2025, with matches to be held in Pakistan and Dubai. However, India’s squad for the tournament is yet to be announced. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is facing delays in finalizing the team. As per ICC regulations, the squad was supposed to be announced by January 12, but the BCCI has not made any official declaration so far. Reports indicate that the BCCI has requested an extension of the deadline from the ICC, suggesting that the squad announcement might be pushed to January 18 or 19.
Meanwhile, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar is expected to announce the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against England either today or tomorrow. This series, set to begin on January 22, will feature five T20 matches, followed by three ODIs. Notably, India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav in the T20 series.
The recent five-match Test series against Australia ended in a disappointing defeat for India, prompting speculation that tough decisions may be made during the selection process. In preparation for the Champions Trophy, players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are reportedly being considered for inclusion in the 50-over format. Additionally, Mohammed Shami’s return for the ODI series against England is on the cards, while Arshdeep Singh may also be included in the 50-over squad.
