Woman dies inside MRI scanning machine due to diagnostic center’s negligence

A tragic incident unfolded at the Susmita Diagnostic Center in Eluru, where a woman, Ramathulasamma, lost her life due to the negligence of the diagnostic center staff. The woman fainted and ultimately died inside the MRI scanning machine after being sent in without being properly checked for metal objects, which is a necessary precaution before undergoing an MRI scan.

Ramathulasamma, who had a pacemaker implanted, was referred to the diagnostic center for an MRI by Dr. Praveen Kumar after she had been undergoing dialysis at Ayush Hospital. Despite the pacemaker, the staff failed to check her for metal objects using a metal detector.

Once inside the MRI machine, the effects of radiation caused her to faint. Her husband, Koteswara Rao, noticed she was suffocating in the machine and urgently asked the staff to stop the scan. However, the staff continued the procedure, ignoring his pleas.

Unfortunately, the woman died due to radiation exposure while still inside the MRI machine. Koteswara Rao expressed his deep anguish over the incident, lamenting that his wife died before his eyes while undergoing the MRI scan. His protest at the diagnostic center demanding justice for his wife has stirred emotions in the community.

This incident has become a sensation in the district, with public outrage directed at the diagnostic center staff for their failure to follow basic safety protocols.
