Five Killed in road accident in Kurnool

In a horrific road accident near Pandavagallu village in Adoni mandal of Kurnool district, five people lost their lives after a Karnataka RTC bus collided with two bikes on Tuesday. Among the deceased were three members of the same family and a couple from Adoni mandal.

According to police reports, the accident occurred when a Gangavathi Depot RTC bus traveling from Adoni to Raichur was allegedly over-speeding near Pandavagallu village. The bus driver, while attempting to overtake, hit two bikes coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the instant death of four people. Another critically injured person, Home Guard Hemadri, was rushed to the Adoni Government Hospital, but he too succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The deceased were identified as Veeranna and his wife Adilakshmi, a couple from Kuppagallu village, Adoni mandal and home guard Hemadri, his wife Nagaratna, and son Devaraju, from Manvi, Raichur district, Karnataka. Following the accident, the RTC bus driver fled from the spot, leaving behind the damaged vehicle.

The Peddathumbalam police have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the driver. Initial investigations revealed that the driver’s negligence and overspeeding were the primary causes of the accident. As soon as the tragic incident came to light, minister TG Bharath instructed the district authorities to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.

However, despite intensive medical care, Home Guard Hemadri succumbed to his injuries. The bodies have been shifted to Adoni Government Hospital for postmortem, and the bereaved families were seen in uncontrollable grief at the hospital. Police officials have assured that the bus driver will be traced and legal action will be taken against him.
