CM Chandrababu Naidu Unveils Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu’s Book Mantada to Manhattan
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu unveiled Mantada to Manhattan, a book authored by renowned oncologist Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu, at Murali Fortune Hotel in Vijayawada on Monday night.
Speaking at the event, presided over by Emesco Vijayakumar, Chandrababu Naidu praised Dr. Nori’s remarkable journey from the small village of Mantada to global recognition in the field of oncology. “It is a matter of great pride that Dr. Dattatreyudu, who has earned worldwide acclaim and served people across the globe, hails from our Telugu community,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Dr. Nori’s success was not due to luck but to his unwavering determination and dedication. He also acknowledged the contributions of Dr. Nori’s family to the medical field and lauded his extensive work in cancer treatment, spanning over five decades.
A Personal Connection and Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital
Recalling a personal connection, Chandrababu Naidu shared that when his mother-in-law, Basavatarakam, was diagnosed with cancer, she sought treatment from Dr. Nori in the U.S. “She questioned how many others could afford to travel abroad for treatment and suggested establishing a dedicated cancer hospital in India. Following her suggestion, the late N.T. Rama Rao consulted Dr. Nori and allocated seven acres in Hyderabad for the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital,” he explained.
Naidu noted that while the hospital’s construction stalled after Basavatarakam’s passing, he ensured its completion upon becoming Chief Minister. He further announced plans for a new branch of Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Amaravati, with land already allocated.
Dr. Nori Appointed as Advisor
Praising Dr. Nori’s commitment, Naidu remarked that for him, the gratitude of recovered patients was more rewarding than any professional accolades. He also announced that the Andhra Pradesh government would appoint Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu as an advisor on cancer-related matters.
The event was attended by Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav, legislators Mandali Buddha Prasad, Gadde Rammohan, Konathala Ramakrishna, M.S. Raju, and other dignitaries.
