*Background Information:*
The GMR Contracting Company constructed a four-lane, 181.5 km road from Dandumalkapuram in Yadadri District to Nandigama in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of Rs. 1,740 crore, based on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. Toll fee collection began at the three plazas on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway in December 2012. The GMR Company managed toll collection and road maintenance until June 31, 2024.
Since NHAI took over toll collection on July 1 of last year, it has decided to lower toll fees, reversing the previous annual increase plan set by the GMR Company.
