Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha has reaffirmed the State government's commitment to delivering justice within 100 days of a crime, emphasizing that this goal can only be achieved through the collective efforts of both the police and the public.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony, home minister Anitha honored newly trained police sub-inspectors (SIs) who excelled in civil indoor and outdoor training, awarding them medals, certificates, and the Chief Minister’s pistol.
Anitha stressed the need to curb cybercrimes by embracing technology, ensuring that the police force stays ahead of evolving threats. She expressed her pride in the fact that 97 of the newly trained SIs are women, reinforcing the government's push for greater gender representation in law enforcement.
Reiterating the government’s tough stance on crimes against women and children, she announced that a new system will be introduced to ensure that assault and harassment cases are resolved with strict punishment within 100 days.
The Home Minister also highlighted the government’s war on drugs, revealing that one lakh kg of marijuana had been seized in just nine months, and thousands of acres of illegal marijuana cultivation along the AOB borders had been eradicated.
She pledged to make Andhra Pradesh a drug-free state. To strengthen law enforcement and surveillance, the government will install one lakh CCTV cameras across the State and equip each police station with two drones for enhanced monitoring and crime prevention.
Anitha commended the police force for their tireless dedication to protecting the people's wealth, dignity, and lives. She acknowledged the sacrifices of families who send their loved ones into the army and police force, calling their contribution immeasurable.
The government remains committed to the welfare of police personnel, ensuring better facilities and career growth opportunities. She highlighted that the completion of training by 394 SIs would serve as a significant reinforcement for the Home Department.
In addition, she presented trophies to top performers in firing competitions and those who showcased outstanding all-round performance in the APSP sections.
