TDP secures municipal victories in Tirupati and Nandigama

Tirupati: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) secured victory in the Tirupati Municipal Corporation, with RC Munikrishna being elected as the deputy mayor. The TDP-Jana Sena alliance garnered 26 votes, while the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) managed 21 votes in a tightly contested election.

Addressing the media, Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivas emphasized that the alliance had successfully executed its strategy, as predicted a day earlier. He accused the YSRCP of attempting to manipulate the election process by kidnapping four TDP corporators on Monday.

However, he stated that all the abducted members had safely returned, ensuring the alliance's triumph. MLA Srinivas further alleged that the YSRCP tried to influence the election using underhanded tactics, but the NDA alliance turned the situation in its favor.

He credited the victory to the blessings of Lord Venkateswara and pledged that Munikrishna would work diligently for the development of Tirupati. Expressing gratitude, Munikrishna thanked the 26 corporators who supported him, along with the MLA and other leaders from the alliance.

The deputy mayor election witnessed intense suspense, with 48 out of 50 corporators participating in the voting process. When the election officer conducted the polling, 21 members raised their hands for YSRCP, while 26 alliance members supported Munikrishna, confirming his victory.

Resolution in Nandigama : Meanwhile, in Nandigama Municipality (NTR district), the prolonged suspense over the Municipal chairman election finally ended with the election of Mandava Krishnakumari. The TDP high command intervened to resolve internal disputes, ultimately securing 15 votes for Krishnakumari, while the YSRCP's candidate managed only three votes.

The election had been delayed due to a lack of consensus within the TDP. Differences had emerged between MLA Tangirala Sowmya and MP Kesineni Sivanath, who had proposed separate candidates for the position. While MLA Sowmya backed Satyavati, the MP favored Swarnalatha.

After a series of discussions and delays, the TDP high command intervened and nominated Mandava Krishnakumari as a compromise candidate. Despite expectations of an uncontested election, the YSRCP fielded Lakshmi as a rival candidate, prompting a formal vote.

With 15 TDP-Jana Sena members supporting Krishnakumari, her victory was formally declared. Following the result, MLA Tangirala Sowmya refuted claims of differences within the party, stating that the TDP remained united. She accused certain individuals of spreading false propaganda about internal divisions. "The high command carefully examined all perspectives before choosing Krishnakumari. There are no differences in our TDP family," she affirmed.
