Ready to Work with TDP MPs if Needed: YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Mithun Reddy stated that the party will not remain silent if injustice is done to the state regarding the Polavaram project. He asserted that they are prepared to fight in the Lok Sabha, even by joining hands with MPs across party lines if necessary. He made these remarks during a discussion in Parliament on the motion of thanks to the President’s address during the Budget Session.
Mithun Reddy urged that the capacity of the Polavaram project should not be reduced. He pointed out that the project was originally designed with a capacity of 194 TMC, ensuring irrigation for 7.5 lakh acres. However, he alleged that budget proposals have been made to lower the project’s height, which has resulted in a reduction of its capacity from 194 TMC to 115 TMC.
Due to this, he claimed that only 3.20 lakh acres would receive water, which he described as a grave injustice to the state. He further questioned how water would reach Banakacharla if the project’s capacity is decreased. He reiterated that YSRCP is willing to collaborate with TDP MPs to oppose this reduction.
Mithun Reddy also alleged that the Margadarsi company was involved in a ₹2,600 crore scam and called for an investigation into the matter. Additionally, he opposed the privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and urged the central government to take stringent measures to eradicate drug trafficking. He also criticized the alleged gradual phasing out of English medium education in the state.
