TTD Implements Reforms Amid Concerns Over Religious Influence in Tirumala
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has taken a decisive step against employees belonging to other religions within its institutions. TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu has responded seriously to concerns about religious activities that contradict the sanctity of the Tirumala temple.
As part of this action, 18 employees, including the principal of TTD Women's Polytechnic College, the principal of Sri Venkateswara University Ayurveda College, lecturers in affiliated educational institutions, and hostel wardens, have been transferred.
This decision comes in the wake of recent controversies, including the alleged availability of non-vegetarian food on Tirumala Hill. There have been growing concerns that individuals from other faiths hold high-ranking positions within TTD and that activities such as the distribution of meat, alcohol, and narcotics on the hill are undermining the sanctity of the shrine.
Devotees have expressed serious apprehensions, alleging that religious conversions are happening discreetly within the temple's surroundings. Responding to these concerns, the state government has initiated reforms within TTD.
TTD has compiled a list of 69 individuals allegedly involved in activities that compromise the spiritual integrity of Tirumala. This list includes both current and retired employees.
Chairman B.R. Naidu confirmed that these individuals were identified based on their actions, leading to the decision to transfer them. Meanwhile, reports suggest that around 300 employees from other faiths are currently working in various departments of TTD.
