In an exclusive conversation with 'Times Now', the Kannada star opened up about his upcoming projects, which are set to go on the floors in March 2025. Read for more details from the interview.
Roaring star Srii Murali, who is basking in the success of Bagheera, a first of its kind superhero action drama in Kannada, is presently on a vacation with his family in Paris. The Kannada star had been busy for over three years with the making of Bagheera.
Made under Hombale Films banner and directed by Dr. Suri, Bagheera had the story written by KGF and Salaar director, Prashanth Neel. Opened to rave reviews, Bagheera was a success, and it continues to charm the audiences on the OTT platform, Netflix.
In an exclusive interview with Times Now, Srii Murali opens about his latest success, upcoming projects, and his cousin Dr. Shivarajkumar and much more.
‘I Feel Humbled’
“I was waiting for this moment for the past three years. Everything changed from October 31st (Bagheera release date), and I feel humbled. It feels great to try something new and see it thoroughly accepted.”
When asked about his post-Bagheera plans, he revealed that two major projects are in the pipeline, though he refrained from divulging specific details about their genres of narratives.
Telugu’s premier production house — People Media Factory announced its 47th venture featuring Srii Murali on the actor's birthday. Another project, Paraak marks the second film that has been announced featuring Srii Murali.
Reacting to it, he says, “I believe in my work, my decisions, and my team. Right now, I am focused on giving my best to these projects. Both are big undertakings that need time, peace, and precision,” he said. The first project is expected to begin in March, followed closely by the second.
Interestingly, the actor mentioned he would juggle between these two projects but hinted at the possibility of taking on additional ventures.
“I will do a couple more projects beyond these. For now, I want to complete and release these two this year,” he said. Asked about what drew him to the new films, he explained, “It’s the script and the love for the entire process. It’s not always about what I want to do; it’s also about working together as a team to deliver something special to the audience.”
‘Shivanna mama is my energy too’
On Bagheera’s success, he reflected on its novelty, saying, “People were pleasantly surprised. Even the critics appreciated it. It’s a superhero-like story but with a fresh, unique approach.” The actor expressed his joy at the overwhelming response, especially from Telugu audiences, and acknowledged the increased expectations for his future projects.
When asked about his cousin Dr. Shivarajkumar, known for his high-energy persona, the actor shared a personal connection: “We love each other, and he is my energy too. I prefer seeing him when he is back to his best. My family has visited him, and we handle things differently, but we share a strong bond.”
About Shivarajkumar’s Bhairathi Ranagal, a prequel project to Mufti which featured him in the lead role alongside Shivanna playing Bhairathi Ranagal’s character, Srii Murali said, “The idea and thought behind it were excellent. The audience has declared it a success, which is very satisfying. That character, Bhairathi Ranagal, is close to my heart,” he said.
When stressed on the potential sequel involving his character, Srii Murali responded cautiously, emphasising his preference for discussing projects only after finalising scripts.
Ending on a lighter note, the actor shared his current focus: family time and fitness. “I have been on a strict diet and now enjoying the holiday phase with my family. From January 10th, I will dive back into preparations, and by March, I will be ready to shoot.”
