The Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) membership registration program is progressing rapidly, and the party is on the verge of achieving a historic milestone. In this context, Nara Lokesh, the party’s national general secretary, has entered into an agreement with an insurance company to provide accident insurance coverage for one crore party workers.
The agreement was signed at Nara Lokesh’s residence in Undavalli, in the presence of representatives from United India Insurance and Pragmatic Insurance Broking. This initiative, which offers comprehensive insurance to such a large number of party workers simultaneously, is a first in political history.
Under the agreement, the party has paid an initial premium of ₹42 crores for the insurance coverage period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. A similar amount will be paid as the premium for the subsequent year. The policy provides accident insurance coverage of ₹5 lakhs for each worker.
Since taking charge of the welfare fund for party workers, Nara Lokesh has undertaken several revolutionary initiatives with a focus on cadre welfare. The party has spent ₹138 crores so far on worker welfare programs. During the previous administration, a legal assistance division was established to support cadres entangled in legal issues.
A dedicated cell has also been set up at the central office to assist workers affected by various incidents. For the children of deceased workers, residential schools under the NTR Trust have been established in Hyderabad and Krishna District’s Challapalli, offering free education.
Party workers have expressed appreciation for Lokesh’s efforts to treat them like family members and protect their welfare.
