AP aims for $2 trillion economy by 2047: Lokesh

Andhra Pradesh is poised to emerge as a global digital technology powerhouse and achieve the ambitious goal of becoming a $2 trillion economy by 2047 under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, said minister for IT and HRD Nara Lokesh. Speaking at the two-day Andhra Pradesh Digital Technology Summit-2025, organized by AP DTI (Digital Technology Industry) and STPI (Software Technology Parks of India), Lokesh outlined the state's roadmap for technological and economic transformation.
The summit, attended by industry leaders and innovators, focused on themes such as IT development across seven sectors, the significance of deep technology, and fostering a robust startup ecosystem. Addressing the gathering, Minister Lokesh expressed pride in participating in a summit that sets the direction for Andhra Pradesh's technological growth. "In the future, AP will become a global digital technology hub.
Innovation and deep tech skills are pivotal for economic growth and societal progress," he said. Highlighting the transformative potential of AI, robotics, quantum computing, health tech, edutech, and energy-smart solutions, Lokesh stressed the importance of integrating IT, electronics, med tech, and smart technologies to tackle social challenges. Lokesh reiterated the State's commitment to realizing Vision 2047, an initiative rooted in the foundation laid by Chandrababu Naidu's Vision 2020. "By 2047, Andhra Pradesh will become a $2 trillion economy.
We will revolutionize higher education to align with industrial needs and establish an AI University in Visakhapatnam," he announced. He also underscored the importance of decentralizing development and fostering regional growth. The Minister highlighted Andhra Pradesh's strides in attracting investments worth Rs 2 lakh crore, with significant projects spanning various regions.
Rayalaseema has been emerging as a renewable energy hub with Kia Motors spearheading industrial growth in Anantapur. Godavari districts have positioned to become the state's aqua hub, Chittoor and Kadapa districts have been poised as electronics manufacturing hubs and Uttarandhra will soon to host the world's largest chemical park and a state-of-the-art data center in Visakhapatnam. Lokesh also announced plans to bring TCS to Visakhapatnam and establish the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub to support industrialists and entrepreneurs.
Visakhapatnam MP Matukumilli Sribharat acknowledged the current economic challenges but emphasized turning crises into opportunities. "The next five years are crucial. We are committed to building an ecosystem to position Visakhapatnam as an IT hub while enhancing the research sector," he stated. DTNF chairman Sridhar Kosaraju, KDEM chairman BV Naidu, AloneOS co-founder CP Gurnani, STPI director C Kavita, and ITAAP president Lakshmi Mukkavilli participated.
