In response to the backlash, she released a video expressing regret for her statement and seeking forgiveness.
In her apology video, Srimukhi clarified that she did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments. She acknowledged that her remarks were a mistake and conveyed sincere regret for the offense caused. "I mistakenly referred to Rama and Lakshmana as fictional characters. I deeply respect Lord Rama and hold strong faith in him," she stated.
Further emphasizing her religious beliefs, Srimukhi mentioned that she herself is a devout Hindu and a believer in God. She assured the public that such a mistake would never be repeated and that she would exercise utmost caution in the future.
"I promise that I will be more careful going forward. I sincerely request everyone to forgive me and understand that it was an unintended error. Please accept my apology with a big heart," Srimukhi appealed in her video.
