The tragic incident occurred when a large crowd surged forward after a gate was opened to assist an ailing individual. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already visited the site, expressing strong dissatisfaction with the TTD Executive Officer and other officials, questioning their administrative efficiency.
Following the Chief Minister’s visit, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has departed from Vijayawada to Tirupati to assess the situation. He is expected to inspect the location where the stampede occurred and visit the injured devotees undergoing treatment at local hospitals.
The incident took place late last night at Bairagipatteda near Tirupati. The chaos ensued after a person felt unwell while waiting in line for darshan tokens. As the park gates were opened to accommodate medical aid, the crowd surged forward, resulting in the unfortunate stampede.
