Former Minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao has strongly criticized the Telangana government’s decision to allow additional shows
Former Minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao has strongly criticized the Telangana government’s decision to allow additional shows of the movie Game Changer, calling it a violation of the promises made in the Assembly. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of backtracking on his statements, likening his behavior to that of a chameleon. Harish Rao also announced that a privilege motion will be moved against the Chief Minister and the minister for misleading the Assembly under the violation of its rights. In a tweet expressing his outrage, Harish Rao pointed out the hypocrisy of the situation, referencing the tragic incident where a woman died due to the government's earlier allowance for benefit shows and increased ticket rates.
He remarked, "Even a chameleon would be ashamed of the change in behavior by the Chief Minister, especially when he had declared in the Assembly that no special privileges would be given to movies." Harish Rao also took aim at minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, who had similarly assured that there would be no increase in ticket prices, only for those promises to be quickly forgotten. "What if what was announced in the Assembly has no value?" Harish Rao questioned, emphasizing that such decisions insult the sanctity of the Assembly. He accused the Chief Minister and his government of undermining the Assembly’s authority and said that allowing extra shows and ticket hikes was a direct contradiction to earlier statements made in the legislature.
Harish Rao’s criticism took a more personal tone as he asked, "How did you allow the increase in ticket rates after declaring it was wrong? Who benefited from this decision?" He called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to explain his sudden U-turn, questioning the motives behind the decision. Harish Rao also recalled the tragic incident involving a woman's death and the ongoing treatment of a child still hospitalized due to the same issue. He pointedly asked the Chief Minister, "Why did you take this U-turn before forgetting that unfortunate incident? What is the secret behind this?"
