Telangana to resume caste census survey from tomorrow
The Telangana government is set to resume the caste census survey across the State, giving another opportunity for those who missed the first phase. The survey will be conducted from February 16 to 28, with all necessary arrangements in place.
To ensure maximum participation, the government has introduced three ways for people to register. Citizens can directly submit their details at the Mandal Parishad office, download forms online and register, or call a toll-free helpline, which will be announced soon, to contact enumerators.
Ahead of the survey, chief secretary (CS) held a teleconference with district collectors today to provide guidelines and officially announce the toll-free number. This will help ensure smooth coordination and encourage higher participation. The first phase of the caste census survey, conducted from November 6 to December 25, 2024, recorded 96.9 percent participation, with over 3.54 crore people registering their details.
However, 3.1 percent of the population did not participate for various reasons. Notably, key BRS leaders like former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, former minister K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), and Harish Rao did not register their details in the survey.
As demands for BC reservations increase, the government aims to complete the census by ensuring that those who missed the first phase get another chance. The second phase of the caste census survey will be conducted for 12 days, ensuring full coverage of Telangana’s population data.
