Bhuvaneswari marks 'Mana Desam' diamond jubilee
Nara Bhuvaneswari, daughter of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), shared an emotional tribute on social media, marking 75 years since NTR's debut film, Mana Desam.
In a tweet on Sunday, she expressed her pride and nostalgia on this special day, calling it a momentous occasion for NTR fans and Telugu cinema enthusiasts. "Today, November 24, 2024, marks the diamond jubilee of Mana Desam, the film in which my father made his first appearance on the silver screen," she wrote.
NTR debuted in the role of a police sub-inspector in the movie, which was released on November 24, 1949, and went on to create history in the Telugu film industry. Bhuvaneswari highlighted the significance of Mana Desam, calling it the beginning of a golden era in Telugu cinema.
"When I think about my father's incredible film journey and his unparalleled contributions to the acting world, I feel immense pride, not just as his daughter, but as a proud Telugu woman," she added. She further reflected on NTR’s iconic portrayals in mythological films, stating, "His roles in mythological stories make me believe that the gods themselves blessed him to bring their divine forms to life on earth.
It sends shivers down my spine to think about the way he portrayed such characters. That is why Telugu people lovingly refer to him as ‘the one born for a cause’." Bhuvaneswari extended her heartfelt wishes to NTR fans and the Telugu community, urging them to celebrate the Vajrotsavam (diamond jubilee) of Mana Desam and remember the legacy of the legendary NTR.
