Former Andhra Pradesh finance minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu,
has demanded an immediate investigation into allegations that former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy accepted bribes related to a power purchase agreement with the Adani Group. Ramakrishnudu criticized the agreement as a significant quid pro quo deal, asserting that the American investigation agency's findings indicate that the bribe money reached Reddy. He emphasized that the people of Andhra Pradesh would bear the financial burden of this alleged corruption.
He called for prompt action from the state government, urging the initiation of an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter. Ramakrishnudu questioned whether the state government would recommend a CBI investigation or order an ACB inquiry, stressing the need for immediate action based on solid evidence. Addressing the solar power purchase agreements with the Adani Group, Ramakrishnudu alleged that these agreements represent the second-largest quid pro quo during Reddy's tenure.
He claimed that the Andhra Pradesh treasury is incurring losses due to these agreements, leading to increased financial burdens on the State's residents. Ramakrishnudu refuted claims by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) that no agreements were made with the Adani Group during the previous government, except through the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). He clarified that SECI is merely a nodal agency and has no direct involvement in the Adani case. He alleged that there was a direct agreement between Reddy and the Adani Group, compromising the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
