Alla Nani set to join TDP today ?
YSR Congress party ex-MLA Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas alias Alla Nani is all set to join the Telugu Desam Party
If the reports coming from Amaravati are to be believed, former Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and YSR Congress party ex-MLA Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas alias Alla Nani is all set to join the Telugu Desam Party in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today afternoon. Reportedly, Nani will meet the TDP president and other leaders after completion of cabinet meeting today.
Alla Nani, a three time MLA from Eluru constituency and former Cabinet Minister of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, resigned from YSRCP and also gave up his party membership in August this year following after facing a humiliating defeat in the 2024 assembly elections. He was among the of many prominent leaders from Jagan’s party to announce resignation after the declaration of results.
Without giving any reasons for his sudden exit from YSRCP, Nani stated that he will inform the media very soon in detail on why he decided to quit politics. Though he maintained that he want to take a long break from active politics, Nani seems to have decided to jump fence into TDP and continue his journey.
Nani is regarded as one of the staunch loyalists to YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s family. He was elected to the State Assembly in 2004, 2009 and 2019. After suffering defeat in the 2014 elections, he was elected to the Legislative Council. He held the portfolio of Health Ministry from 2019 to 2022 and was also one of the five Deputy Chief Ministers during Jagan’s tenure.
In 2024 elections, Nani suffered a massive defeat in the hands of TDP’s Badeti Radha Krishna with a huge margin of 60,000+ votes. He maintained distance with party related activities since then and announced his resignation in August this year.
There were rumours that Nani is likely to join Janasena party. However, it seems like he got the green signal from TDP’s high command. Sources revealed that a prominent TDP leader from Vizianagaram district played a key role in this development.
It may be noted that Nani and few others were booked in a cheating case after a YSRCP woman activist named Nagamani filed a complaint in a special mobile court which directed the Eluru police to lodge a case on them.
