Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana strongly criticized YSRCP leaders for allegedly spreading false propaganda regarding the construction of the state capital, Amaravati. Reiterating that Amaravati is a self-sustaining project, he assured that the capital’s construction would not impose any financial burden on the public.
The 44th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing the media after the meeting, Minister Narayana stated that lands acquired through land pooling were allocated to farmers, while the remaining plots would be sold to fund Amaravati's construction. He explained that loans from institutions such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank would be repaid through revenue generated from Amaravati’s development and future income streams.
Minister Narayana alleged that YSRCP leaders were unable to accept the rapid resumption of capital development works within six months of the government assuming power and were thus resorting to criticism. He emphasized that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was not only focused on developing Amaravati but had also devised comprehensive plans for the holistic development of all 26 districts in the state. The establishment of central government institutions across the state was cited as evidence of the government's commitment to balanced development.
Highlighting recent developments, Narayana revealed that CRDA had approved new works worth ₹2,723.02 crore in Amaravati. He assured that tenders for all these projects would be invited by January 15, with the goal of completing construction within three years.
