TDP Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar has come up with an innovative way to repurpose the shawls he received during felicitations through the program "The Give Back." The MLA revealed that instead of preserving these shawls, which had become difficult to store, they are being redesigned into dresses for poor children and students living in hostels. In an insightful move, Prabhakar shared that his daughter suggested converting the shawls into usable dresses.
The dresses, being sewn for children in need, will not only help provide clothing but also make the children feel valued. Additionally, a lower garment is being bought for each child at a cost of Rs 450, ensuring that the entire outfit is complete. The MLA added that 250 dresses have already been made for children and the distribution will continue through Christmas with the target of reaching more children in need.
"If every VIP takes this approach, rather than letting shawls go to waste, it will serve a greater purpose," he said. The initiative is largely supported by the Chintamaneni Charitable Trust, which has been instrumental in gathering the resources needed for this cause. Some of the children benefiting from this initiative are orphans, highlighting the program’s focus on the most vulnerable sections of society.
