Telugu Desam Party MP Lauvu Srikrishna Devarayalu raised concerns over the pending issues related to Andhra Pradesh's bifurcation during an all-party meeting held at the Parliament Annex on Sunday. Highlighting the slow progress on the Polavaram project, Devarayalu emphasized the need for urgent parliamentary discussion on its construction delays, now spanning over a decade.

Devarayalu also addressed other critical matters, including the status of the Kadapa Steel Factory, the plight of tenant farmers, and unresolved commitments to establish institutions under the division guarantees. "There is an urgent need to resolve grievances of tenant farmers and to accelerate the establishment of more institutions in Andhra Pradesh as promised," he stated. Focusing on disaster management, Devarayalu referred to the recent flood crisis in Vijayawada, urging Parliament to deliberate on the impact of natural disasters across cities and towns in India. He reiterated the importance of the Godavari-Penna river linking project, envisioning its potential to bring 10 lakh acres under cultivation in Andhra Pradesh and serving as a model for the country.

Devarayalu also advocated for addressing social media misuse and requested consultations on amending the Wakf Act to reflect the views of Muslim minorities. "Specific steps must be taken to ensure inclusivity and transparency in these matters," he added. In the same meeting, Jana Sena Floor Leader Balashouri underscored the need for the Central government to fully fund the Polavaram project and complete it within two years, including rehabilitation measures. He insisted that the project's height should remain unchanged to meet public expectations.

Balashouri also urged the fulfillment of division promises, including establishing an oil refinery, developing the Kadapa steel plant, and creating new ports in Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted the importance of providing tenant farmers with compensation for losses and ensuring their economic sustainability.

"The name of Andhra Pradesh should stand for its achievements, not controversies. Discussions on critical issues like social media abuse and international recognition for the state’s progress must take precedence," Devarayalu stated, summarizing the state’s concerns. The meeting, lasting over two hours, provided a platform for leaders to voice Andhra Pradesh's pressing concerns and stressed the need for expeditious resolution of bifurcation-related issues. Ends//
