Land Grabbing Rampant During YSRCP Rule

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has stated that the new law introduced by the Andhra Pradesh government

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has stated that the new law introduced by the Andhra Pradesh government will impose severe penalties on those who engage in land grabbing. The party remarked that this legislation aims to curb the rampant land grabbing that has occurred during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) administration.

Former Brahmin Corporation Chairman Vemuri Anand Surya spoke to reporters at the party's central office on Saturday. "The newly enacted Land Encroachment Prevention Act stipulates that anyone found guilty of land grabbing will face imprisonment for ten to fourteen years and substantial fines. If any officials are found to be complicit in these actions, their properties will be confiscated, and they could face up to seven years in prison. This coalition government has implemented this law to protect the lands of the poor and the common people."

Anand Surya highlighted that land grabbing has increased significantly across the state during Chief Minister Jagan Reddy's tenure. He noted that land records have been altered overnight, enabling the seizure of properties. Allegations have surfaced against the family of former YSRCP minister Botsa regarding their involvement in the grabbing of 2,000 acres of land in Uttarandhra.

Additionally, former minister Usha Sri Charan has been accused of seizing 160 acres of land valued at Rs. 30 crore, which was subsequently registered in her husband's name. A former Dharmavaram MLA has also been implicated in land grabbing, reportedly spreading misinformation on social media to facilitate the seizure of lands.

"There is no accountability for such land predators within the YSRCP," Anand Surya criticized. "The government is determined to reclaim the lands that have been wrongfully acquired and protect the rights of ordinary citizens. Despite committing numerous wrongdoings, Jagan Reddy continues to try to convince the public through deceptive claims."
