Bhogapuram International Airport Allocated Additional 500 Acres by Ministerial Committee

The government has appointed a three-member ministerial committee to address the allocation of an additional 500

The government has appointed a three-member ministerial committee to address the allocation of an additional 500 acres for the construction of Bhogapuram International Airport in Vizianagaram district. Initially, the request for proposal (RFP) had earmarked 2,703.26 acres for the airport. However, under the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy administration, the allocated land was reduced by 500 acres to 2,203.26 acres.

Recently, GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited (GVIAL), which is responsible for developing the Bhogapuram airport, submitted a proposal requesting the government to allocate an adjoining 500 acres. The company stated that the additional land would facilitate the development of a world-class aviation hub, potentially transforming the surrounding area into a well-planned township.

Responding to this request, the government issued an order on Friday forming a ministerial committee. The committee includes the Finance Minister as the chairman, along with the Infrastructure and Industries Ministers as members. The newly formed panel will conduct a detailed study of the proposal and submit its recommendations to the government.
