State Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography, Kandula Durgesh, announced in a review meeting with senior officials of the Tourism Department at the Secretariat that a tourism investors' summit will soon take place in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. During the meeting, there was an extensive discussion regarding the proposals made at the recent Investors' Summit held at Vivanta Hotel in Vijayawada. Minister Durgesh emphasized the need to examine the feasibility of these proposals and finalize them as quickly as possible.
He reviewed the progress of work in various tourist locations and requested detailed updates from the officials. Minister Durgesh instructed them to expedite the completion of ongoing projects. He also indicated that he would soon visit tourist sites to personally supervise the development efforts. In addition, Minister Durgesh advised officials to promote the tourist areas in the state more effectively. Following this, Kumar Vishwajeet, Principal Secretary of the Home Department, met with Minister Durgesh for an extensive discussion on the Cinematography Department. Minister Durgesh congratulated him on his promotion to the rank of DGP.
In his review meeting, Minister Durgesh highlighted the government's strong support for tourism development, mentioning that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has placed significant emphasis on this sector. He directed officials to work efficiently and fulfill their responsibilities. Minister Durgesh discussed investment proposals from various hospitality groups, including Oberoi, Mayfair, Taj Group, Hyatt, Mahindra, and Sterling. The discussion also covered subsidies that would be part of the new tourism policy. He expressed interest in meeting with aspiring entrepreneurs again soon to assess the status of their projects.
The officials informed the minister about plans to develop eight beaches in the state. The topics of beautification, cleanliness, drinking water supply, and restroom facilities were discussed. They were instructed to implement cleanliness measures as part of the Swachh Bharat initiative. Furthermore, Minister Durgesh urged officials to collaborate with local businesses to support these efforts.
He also directed that modernized tourism hotels be made available to tourists by the end of the month. Additionally, he suggested that if legislators propose new tourist sites in their constituencies, officials should consider their development. On this occasion, Minister Durgesh stressed the importance of engaging celebrities from the film industry to promote the state's tourist attractions. He also provided directives regarding the Akhanda Godavari and Gandikota projects, which are to be funded through the Central Government Scheme SASK, and mentioned the need to make rapid decisions concerning the department's festivals.
The meeting concluded with the tourism department officials extending New Year wishes to Minister Durgesh, who expressed his gratitude in return. Afterwards, Kumar Vishwajeet, Principal Secretary of the Home Department, had a detailed conversation with Minister Durgesh regarding the cinematography department and the new film policy.
