Dinesh Karthik, a former India wicketkeeper batter, has been appointed as the league ambassador of the SA20 League. He is the first Indian player to be associated with the South African tournament, having retired from all forms of cricket earlier this year.

In a media release, Karthik expressed his excitement about the league, acknowledging the presence of world-class players and promising young talent on the global stage. Karthik will be collaborating closely with fellow SA20 ambassador AB de Villiers and the management team to bolster the league’s global fan base and enhance brand awareness in key strategic markets such as India and the United Kingdom.

Graeme Smith, former South Africa captain and league commissioner, praised Karthik’s exceptional cricketing talent and personality, deeming him the perfect fit for the league. Smith believes that Karthik’s involvement will undoubtedly elevate the league’s status globally as well as in India.

The SA20 League comprises six franchises – MI Cape Town, Joburg Super Kings, Durban Super Giants, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, all of which are owned by the owners of IPL teams.
