The film completed three years this Christmas eve; and to celebrate its success and legacy, its lead actor Tovino Thomas took to his social media recently to reminisce about the film, and share a fun BTS still with his close friend and director Basil Joseph during its shoot. Actor Guru Somasundharam, who played the antagonist in the film, too shared a memory from the making of the film.

Basil Joseph's Minnal Murali, which released to much positive feedback, and made a mark for itself in the superhero genre in Indian cinema, was one that put the Malayalam film industry on the global map. The film, which released on December 24, 2021, completed three years this Christmas eve; and to celebrate the success and legacy of the film, its lead actor Tovino Thomas took to his social media recently to reminisce about the film, and share a fun BTS still with his close friend and director Basil Joseph during the making of the film. Meanwhile, actor Guru Somasundharam, who played the antagonist in the film too shared a memory from the film.

A Friendly Banter Of A Post

Sharing a BTS image of himself with actor-director Basil Joseph, Tovino wrote, "The director who is teaching Minnal Murali to fly", and also adding a friendly rib to make fun of his friend Basil where he said, "No wonder he couldn't fly! 3 years of Minnal Murali! (sic - translated from Malayalam).

Actor Guru Somasundharam, who played the primary antagonist in the film too took to his social media to share some BTS images of the cast and crew of the film. He wrote, "Three years of Minnal Murali ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Thank you for all the artists and each and every technicians who made this movie gigantic and gave good memories✨"

More About Minnal Murali

A popular superhero Malayalam film, Minnal Murali was released in 2021. Directed by Basil Joseph, the film features Tovino Thomas in the role of the eponymous superhero. The film’s story revolves around Jaison, a tailor who gains superhero powers after being struck by lightning.

The film was set for a theatrical release in 2020, but was postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown. In September 2021, the makers announced that the film would be released directly through the streaming platform Netflix as a result of closure of theatres due to the pandemic. It premiered at the Mumbai Film Festival on 16 December, and was premiered worldwide on the occasion of Christmas Eve (24 December 2021).
