Labor Minister Vasamshetty Subhash issued a formal apology in the Assembly today
Labor Minister Vasamshetty Subhash issued a formal apology in the Assembly today after arriving late for the session. The minister, scheduled to answer a query during the question hour, missed the initial proceedings, leading to the adjournment of his question.
Upon his arrival, Speaker Ayyannapatra advised the minister on the importance of punctuality, stressing the need for ministers to take the question-and-answer session seriously. Minister Subhash apologized to the Assembly, and the proceedings resumed without further incident.
Meanwhile, Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu responded to queries on the progress of the Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanti project. Highlighting Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to alleviate drought through river interlinking, he stated the project would channel 63.20 TMC of Godavari floodwaters to irrigate eight lakh acres at a cost of Rs 17,050 crore.
Minister Ramanaidu criticized the previous YSRCP government for not advancing the project, noting that recent tenders worth Rs 1,600 crore had been completed, with work scheduled to begin next month. The project is expected to supply water to Uttarandhra by July 2025, prioritizing both Polavaram and Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanti.
However, MLA Konatala Ramakrishna expressed disappointment with the minister’s response, emphasizing the ongoing backwardness in Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema. He highlighted issues such as migration and low literacy rates in Uttarandhra, underscoring the critical need for Godavari waters to address these challenges.
