Former deputy CM of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma, expressed his surprise at being appointed as the new governor of Telangana. He mentioned that he had no prior knowledge of his appointment until he received calls from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana’s CM Revanth Reddy.

Dev Varma, a BJP leader, lost the assembly election last year from Charilam in Sepahijala district but expressed his readiness to take on the new responsibility.

He is set to take oath as the governor of Telangana on July 31 and stated that he would work in coordination with the chief minister to fulfill his constitutional duties.

Dev Varma also acknowledged the support of PM Modi and expressed his commitment to continue supporting his home state of Tripura despite the new role in Telangana.
