Eight confirmed dead in SLBC tunnel accident
Telangna Minister Jupally Krishna Rao confirmed that eight workers trapped in the SLBC tunnel accident have died. Along with minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and chief secretary Shanti Kumari, he visited the accident site today to oversee the ongoing rescue operations.
Speaking at the site, minister Jupally assured that the government had not shown any negligence in the rescue efforts. He stated that the location of four missing individuals is expected to be determined by Sunday night, but recovering the remaining bodies will take more time.
He explained that rescue teams are currently cutting through the tunnel bore to facilitate the operation. Dismissing criticism from opposition parties, he expressed frustration over their remarks regarding the handling of the situation. Achampet MLA Vamsi Krishna revealed that radar detection had identified the bodies of four victims in one location, with two more bodies found in separate areas within the tunnel. Excavation work is ongoing, and authorities hope to recover the bodies by Sunday afternoon.
