Demand for BC Reservation Hike Grows Ahead of Local Elections

A meeting focusing on increasing BC (Backward Classes) reservations was held in Hyderabad on Friday, organized by the All India BC Federation and the BC Welfare Association. Chaired by BC Welfare Association National President Jajula Srinivas Goud, the meeting saw participation from various political parties, intellectuals, and BC association leaders, who demanded that local elections should be conducted only after raising BC reservations.
Former National BC Commission Chairman Justice Vangala Eshwariah explained the draft BC Act he had prepared during the event. Justice Eshwariah urged the government to increase BC reservations in Telangana based on population ratios. Speaking on the occasion, National President Srinivas Goud emphasized that a comprehensive caste census has not yet been completed in the state and demanded that a special comprehensive caste survey be conducted and fully completed.
Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Banka Prakash Mudiraj and former minister Srinivas Goud called on the government to release a white paper on BC reservations. Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation Chairman Erapatri Anil and Congress leader Addanki Dayakar stated that a government-led meeting with BC intellectuals would soon be arranged to discuss the reservation issue.
Several leaders from different parties and organizations, including Dr. Bura Narsaiah Goud, Taduru Srinivasulu, Dr. Vijayabhaskar, retired IAS officer Cholletti Prabhakar, Dharma Samaj Party President Visharathan Maharaj, Kulakacharla Srinivas, Vakulabharanam Krishnamohan Rao, and BC Intellectuals Forum Convener Professor Muralimanohar, attended the meeting.
