Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has issued directives to officials to ensure comprehensive changes aimed at capitalizing on the national and international demand for tribal products, particularly Araku Coffee. During a review meeting of the tribal welfare department at the state secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister assessed the current status of education, medical services, and welfare schemes provided to tribal communities.
He also reviewed the sales and marketing strategies for Araku coffee, highlighting the need for comprehensive changes to leverage the growing demand for tribal products. This, he noted, could significantly improve the livelihoods of tribal populations. CM Naidu stressed the promotion of agriculture in the fertile lands within tribal areas, advocating for the cultivation of honey, horticulture, and coffee, which he believes will yield positive results.
He directed officials to enhance basic facilities and reintroduce feeder ambulances across the state’s tribal regions. Additionally, he emphasized reopening the pregnant dormitories, initially established by the Telugu Desam government, for full-term pregnant women to benefit tribal women.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure that no ganja cultivation occurs in these regions and emphasized the need to fully activate organizations like Tricar, GCC, and ITDA.
CM Naidu instructed officials to organize the International Tribal Day celebrations next month and to focus on the schemes implemented by the Centre for tribals, urging them to devise plans to secure additional funds for the state
