.Vijayawada, December 23: The Sandhya Theatre stampede tragedy, which claimed the life of a woman, has escalated into a full-blown controversy, dividing political and public opinion across Telugu states.

The spotlight is on iconic star Allu Arjun, whose visit to the theatre on the day of the incident has sparked fierce debate among leaders of the NDA alliance parties, with Andhra Pradesh BJP and TDP leaders voicing conflicting opinions. On Sunday, AP BJP president D Purandeswari and AP TDP chief Palla Srinivasa Rao came out in support of Allu Arjun, dismissing direct blame on the actor.

However, BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju and TDP MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana took a contrasting stand on Monday, condemning the star's alleged involvement and calling for an overhaul of the benefit show system. Political firestorm The controversy deepened after Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s scathing remarks in the Assembly and Allu Arjun’s subsequent arrest by Telangana police.

Adding fuel to the fire, members of the OU JAC staged an attack on Allu Arjun's residence on Sunday, accusing him of negligence that led to the stampede. BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju sided with Revanth Reddy’s stance, stating, "If Revanth Reddy’s comments on Allu Arjun’s role in the Sandhya Theatre stampede are accurate, I support his claims. No matter how big a celebrity, the law is the same for everyone."

He further questioned the Telugu film industry's apparent indifference towards the victim's family, emphasizing that public safety must take precedence over benefit shows. "Canceling benefit shows is the only way to prevent such tragedies," he added. In stark contrast, BJP Union Minister Bandi Sanjay alleged a conspiracy by the Congress government in Telangana, accusing CM Revanth Reddy of colluding with AIMIM to tarnish Allu Arjun’s image.

"This is a deliberate attempt to harm Tollywood and its stars," Sanjay declared. TDP’s divided stance The TDP leaders were equally split on the matter. State President Palla Srinivasa Rao defended benefit shows, highlighting their importance for the film industry and urging the government to focus on crowd management rather than outright bans.

"Pushpa-2’s anticipation is unmatched. Governments must act responsibly to balance public safety and industry needs," he remarked. Conversely, TDP MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana lashed out against the commercialization of benefit shows, demanding they be used solely for charitable purposes as envisioned by industry veterans like NTR and ANR.

"Today, these shows serve only profit motives. This needs to stop," he said. All eyes on Chandrababu’s decision As the controversy engulfs the Telugu States, the focus has shifted to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is yet to take a stance on granting permissions for benefit shows and ticket price hikes. With Pawan Kalyan, the AP Deputy Chief Minister and Allu Arjun’s relative, being a key player in the NDA alliance, the decision holds political and cinematic significance.

Adding to the tension is the impending release of Ram Charan’s high-budget film in January, coinciding with Sankranti festivities. Industry insiders warn that any unfavorable decision could result in massive losses for producers, intensifying the stakes for Chandrababu Naidu’s government.

Social Media Backlash Pro-TDP media and Jana Sena activists have already launched scathing attacks on Allu Arjun, with media and social media platforms flooded with calls for accountability. Meanwhile, fans of the actor and industry veterans are rallying behind him, accusing political leaders of exploiting the tragedy for personal gain.

With Telangana CM Revanth Reddy already ruling out benefit shows and ticket hikes in his State, the spotlight remains on Andhra Pradesh. As the state grapples with this high-stakes drama, the question remains—will Allu Arjun emerge unscathed, or will this controversy redeemed the rules of Tollywood’s glitzy world?
