Ananya Panday-starrer ‘CTRL’ to arrive on Netflix in October

Vikramaditya Motwane’s cyber thriller “CTRL”, starring Ananya Panday, is set to be released on Netflix, the streaming service announced on Monday. The film, produced by Saffron and Andolan Films and also featuring Vihaan Samat, will start streaming on October 4th. According to the creators, “CTRL” is a cutting-edge thriller that will make viewers reconsider their reliance on technology. In the movie, Panday and Samat play Nella Awasthi and Joe Mascarenhas, a couple who create content together and have a devoted online following.

The official synopsis asks, “But what happens when they break up? In a world where data is power, how much sharing is too much? How much of your life are you willing to share, and do you slowly lose control in the process?” Motwane, known for films like “Udaan”, “Lootera”, and “Trapped”, pointed out that with the amount of time people spend on their devices, screen time is now redefined as screen life.

He explained, “The question is, are we actually in control of all the digital extensions of our life, or are we being controlled? That’s the question ‘CTRL’ tries to explore. For a concept as modern as this, we not only needed a cast who lives such a life, but a platform like Netflix that’s relevant.”

Panday described “CTRL” as an “engaging and impactful” watch, and expressed her belief that the film is for everyone, given the rapid advancement in technology and increasing dependency on it. Producer Nikhil Dwivedi also emphasized the thought-provoking narrative of the film, which he believes will be reflected in every frame.
