 The Telugu Desam Party (TDP)

Politburo meeting on Thursday discussed about filling nominated posts within the State government and initiating the party’s membership registration drive. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu underscored the urgency of consolidating the party’s influence across the State and immediate launch of a party membership registration drive.

Held at NTR Bhavan, Mangalagiri, the meeting spanned two and a half hours, with discussions revolving around filling nominated posts, Vizag MLC election and revival of the Janmabhoomi program also. Chairing the session, Chandrababu Naidu set a clear agenda with six critical points, emphasizing the importance of revisiting and refining the party’s organizational structure.

The meeting also delved into the formulation of white papers on the previous government’s activities, and more significantly, mapped out the road ahead for the ambitious Mission-2029, a long-term vision for the state’s development. Minister K Atchannaidu, addressing the media post-meeting, revealed key strategic decisions.

He highlighted a pressing demographic challenge—the declining population ratio in South India—which could potentially reduce central funding. He also said the TDP would plans to intensify its presence in Telangana.

The party’s membership drive, set to commence shortly, will see a nominal fee of Rs 100, with a notable welfare measure:Rs 5 lakh compensation to the families of members in case of accidental death. In a significant policy direction, poverty alleviation emerged as a focal point. The TDP intends to enlist the expertise of Indians abroad to spearhead this initiative, marking a new approach to tackling poverty.

Additionally, the revival of the Janmabhoomi program, now rebranded as Janmabhoomi 2, was discussed, signaling a renewed commitment to grassroots development. Reflecting on the previous Andhra Pradesh general elections, Atchannaidu candidly acknowledged that with sharper focus, the TDP could have clinched additional seats that were narrowly won by the YSR Congress Party.

Deliberations on Visakha MLC Candidate The Polit Bureau also engaged in a detailed discussion regarding the selection of the MLC candidate for Visakhapatnam, a decision that holds significant political weight. This meeting was particularly notable as it marked the first gathering of the TDP Polit Bureau since the NDA coalition government assumed office.

The session saw the participation of key ministers and senior leaders, including Nara Lokesh and Varla Ramaiah, underscoring the gravity of the decisions at hand.
