NABARD Chairman Shaji Krishnan met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to discuss several important issues. During the meeting, the Chairman announced that the loan limits for agriculture and rural development are set to increase. He also mentioned that NABARD's iconic building in Amaravati will be completed within a year and a half. Krishnan expressed his commitment to supporting the further improvement of rural areas in the knowledge economy, addressing topics such as agriculture, rural development, support for micro and medium enterprises, and the development of the fisheries sector.
Shaji Krishnan assured that NABARD would back the state's efforts to strengthen self-help groups, farmer producer organizations, and entrepreneurs. In response, the Chief Minister indicated that the government would provide viability gap funds as the state's share under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, leveraging the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).
The meeting also explored the utilization of ₹450 crore sanctioned under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) for the development of the fisheries sector and the construction of fishing harbors. The NABARD Chairman praised the state government for establishing the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Society, which serves as a model for the country. Additionally, he reassured that the iconic NABARD building in Amaravati will indeed be finished in the stipulated time frame. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction regarding the relocation of NABARD's regional office from Hyderabad to Vijayawada.
