AP govt issues notices to Ram Gopal Varma

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued legal notices to film director Ram Gopal Varma for allegedly receiving unauthorized funds from the government for his movie Vyooham.

Despite the film failing to attract significant viewership, Varma reportedly benefited from an undue payment of Rs 1.15 crore from the AP Fibernet Corporation. The State government initiated action after discovering irregularities in fund allocation.

On the orders of AP Fibernet Chairman GV Reddy, notices were also sent to the former Managing Director of Fibernet and five other officials allegedly involved in the transaction. The legal notice demands that Ram Gopal Varma repay the amount along with interest within 15 days, citing that the funds were allocated in violation of existing rules.
