The highly anticipated prequel to The Lion King, titled Mufasa: The Lion King, arrived in theatres on December 20. The dubbed versions of Mufasa contributed a large part of its first-day earnings. Among the dubs, the Hindi version, with Shah Rukh Khan's voice, was the top performer, followed by the Telugu version. The Telugu version, featuring Mahesh Babu as Mufasa, stood out. The film opened on a great note at the box office in India.

According to early reports by Sacnilk.com, the film minted Rs 10 crore (En: 4 Cr; Hi: 3 Cr; Te: 2 Cr; Ta: 1 Cr) on the opening day. One key reason for the excitement surrounding Mufasa is its star-studded voice cast, which has drawn attention. The Hindi and Telugu versions of the film feature Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and South Indian icon Mahesh Babu, both of whom bring their unique star power to the project.

The Hindi version also features a talented lineup, including Meiyang Chang as Taka, and the beloved comic duo Shreyas Talpade and Sanjay Mishra voicing Timon and Pumbaa, respectively.
Ahead of the film's release, Mufasa has already seen strong demand at the box office. The film has sold approximately 65,000 tickets in advance bookings, with 35,000 of those reserved for the opening day alone. The Telugu version, in particular, has experienced impressive pre-sales, thanks to Mahesh Babu’s fanbase.
