The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has taken control of Macharla Municipality, previously held by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). This development occurred following the defection of 16 YSRCP councilors to the TDP, marking a major realignment within the municipal body.
The transition was facilitated by the resignation of the former municipal chairman, yesobu , who stepped down to pave the way for the formation of a new council under the TDP’s leadership. Subsequently, P Narasimha Rao, who had previously joined the TDP in the presence of TDP MLA Julakanti Brahma Reddy, was elected as the new municipal chairman. Narasimha Rao’s election to the chairman’s post was the culmination of an agreement within the TDP, solidifying the party’s control over the Macharla Municipality. Following his election, Narasimha Rao was formally sworn in as municipal chairman, cementing the TDP’s newfound authority in the region.
