Indian archer Deepika Kumari advanced to the pre-quarterfinals in the women’s individual event at the Olympic Games by winning two consecutive matches on Wednesday. In the first match, Deepika defeated Reena Parnat of Estonia 6-5 in a shoot-off after a close contest.
She then went on to beat Quinty Roeffen of the Netherlands 6-2. Deepika is set to face Michelle Kroppen of Germany in the pre-quarterfinals on Saturday.
The first match was tightly contested, with Deepika and her Estonian opponent matching each other closely. Deepika trailed 3-5 in the third set but managed to equalize the score by shooting three consecutive 10s, eventually winning the shoot-off with a score of 9 against her opponent’s 8.
The second match was relatively easier for Deepika, with her Dutch opponent struggling with a few bad shots. Deepika claimed victory with strong performances in the first and fourth sets. Deepika’s performance in both matches has secured her a place in the pre-quarterfinals and has showcased her talent and determination.
