Chinese Consul General in Mumbai, Kong Xianhua, has expressed readiness to collaborate with India in bridging the gap between the people of the two nations. He also thanked the Indian Coast Guard for their assistance in rescuing Chinese mariners in the past two years.
Kong visited the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters (West) and met with Inspector General Bhisham Sharma to convey his gratitude. During the visit, Kong emphasized China’s willingness to work with India to strengthen the bond between the two countries, aiming for a relationship where “our two peoples will walk together like brothers and sisters.”
He also recounted the history of mutual support between India and China, referencing Indian assistance during the Sino-Japanese war and Chinese support for India’s independence.
Kong commended the Indian Coast Guard’s prompt and professional response in conducting successful rescue missions for Chinese citizens, highlighting the significant role these missions play in fostering friendship between the two nations. He expressed appreciation for the Coast Guard’s adherence to the motto “Vayam Rakshamah” (we protect) and emphasized the shared philosophy of prioritizing people’s lives in both China and India.
In conclusion, Sharma mentioned that the Indian Coast Guard has saved 27 Chinese citizens over the past decade, further demonstrating the strong bond of humanitarian support between the two countries.
