The upcoming season two of Prime Video’s “Citadel” has welcomed new cast members including Merle Dandridge from “The Last of Us,” and Rahul Kohli and Michael Trucco from “The Fall of the House of Usher.” They will be joining lead actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden in the series, which is created by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo. Production for the new season is set to commence this year, with Joe Russo taking on the role of director.

The first season of “Citadel” followed the story of elite agents Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra Jonas), who had their memories erased after escaping from the fallen global spy agency, Citadel. The show depicted them trying to build new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts, until Mason is approached by a former Citadel colleague seeking his help to stop rival agency Manticore from establishing a new world order.

In addition to Chopra Jonas and Madden, the second season will also feature Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville reprising their roles, and Jack Reynor, known for his work in “Midsommar,” joining the cast. “Citadel” is a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO banner.

The series is executive produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes for AGBO, with David Weil as the showrunner and executive producer. The show is set to serve as the flagship show that will tie in with local adaptations such as “Citadel: Honey Bunny” (India), starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and “Citadel: Diana” featuring Matilda De Angelis. “Citadel: Diana” will premiere on October 10, followed by “Citadel: Honey Bunny” on November 7. The makers have highlighted the global success of “Citadel,” which became one of Prime Video’s most-watched new original series both outside the US and worldwide within 24 days of its premiere in 2023.
