Good Bad Ugly Gears Up for Release Amid Minimal Promotions
With just five days to go, Good Bad Ugly is all set for its grand release on April 10. However, the buzz around the film hasn’t quite reached expected levels, leaving fans somewhat disheartened. The lack of aggressive promotions isn’t due to the production team's oversight—it’s simply a reflection of Ajith Kumar’s long-standing stance on publicity. Known for steering clear of media interactions, events, and interviews, Ajith firmly believes that if a film is truly good, audiences will naturally flock to the theaters.
While this philosophy may have worked in the past, it continues to frustrate fans who crave more engagement and excitement in the lead-up to a release. Good Bad Ugly has followed the same pattern, with no public appearances or promotional efforts from Ajith.
Still, there’s some reason for cheer. The Tamil trailer, released yesterday, was packed with all the elements fans love—action, humor, energy, and entertainment. Director Adhik Ravichandran has clearly crafted a film to please the masses. Although GV Prakash Kumar’s background score received mixed reactions, many are holding off on criticism until they experience the full film. In Tamil Nadu, where Ajith enjoys a massive fanbase, Good Bad Ugly is expected to perform well regardless of pre-release hype. Case in point: Vidamuyarchi, which had lukewarm buzz but still managed to cross ₹100 crores.
However, the real test lies in the Telugu and other non-Tamil markets. Ajith’s pull in Telugu cinema has traditionally been limited—films like Veeram and Vedalam saw only average performance. Despite this, Mythri Movie Makers is planning a wide release in Telugu. The challenge remains Ajith’s reluctance to participate in promotional events, something that makes it harder to establish a stronger market presence in regions unfamiliar with his star power.
Adding to the challenge is the stiff competition. Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s Jack is releasing around the same time and already has a buzz, while Mythri is also backing Jaat, starring Sunny Deol—dividing attention and resources.
As the countdown begins, all eyes are on Good Bad Ugly. Will Ajith’s content-driven confidence pay off once again, or will the lack of publicity prove costly in competitive territories?
