Mahesh Babu requests postponement of ED hearing
Film actor Mahesh Babu has requested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials to reschedule his hearing, originally set for April 28, citing a film shoot commitment. The ED had issued a notice for Mahesh Babu to appear before them in connection with the ongoing Sai Surya and Surana case.
In his request, Mahesh Babu clarified that due to his shooting schedule, he would be unable to attend the hearing on Monday. He has sent an email to the ED officials seeking an alternate date, and it is expected that they will accommodate his request considering the circumstances.
The ED's investigation involves the Surana Group and its subsidiaries, including Sai Surya Developers and Aryavan Energy, accused of evading thousands of crore of rupees owed to various banks. Searches were conducted at the company’s offices and the home of Industries MD Narendra, leading to the seizure of significant amounts of cash and crucial documents.
Additionally, Mahesh Babu is alleged to have received a large sum of money from these companies for promotional activities. According to ED officials, he was paid Rs. 5.9 crore in total, Rs. 3.4 crore in cash and Rs. 2.5 crore through RTGS transactions.
The notices were issued to Mahesh Babu to appear for questioning on April 28, with the actor’s request for rescheduling now under consideration.
