Andhra aims to become aviation and defense manufacturing hub: Industries Secretary Yuvraj
Andhra Pradesh is poised to emerge as a hub of aviation and defense manufacturing, backed by strategic initiatives and government support, said state Industries Secretary N Yuvaraj on Monday.
A meeting here involving state officials and industrial partners, focused on finalising the defense and missile policy 4.0 for 2025-2029 with stakeholder suggestions.
"Andhra Pradesh is committed to attracting investments, developing skills, and establishing itself as a national leader in defense manufacturing through strong public-private partnerships," said Yuvaraj in an official press release.
Noting that India’s annual defense production now stood at Rs 1.27 lakh crore, he highlighted the need for greater private sector involvement and increased focus on research and development activities.
The state has identified over 30 clusters for industrial development and is promoting economic growth by offering land and incentives to developers across different regions.
According to Yuvaraj, four key focus areas under the aerospace and defense policy 4.0 include aircraft and missiles, weapons, marine and shipbuilding, and defense electronics, aiming at holistic development.
Through this comprehensive strategy, the state aims to attract investments worth Rs 20,000 crore and create 50,000 jobs aligning with Swarn Andhra (Golden Andhra) 2047, said the press release.
Officials also highlighted the critical importance of local manufacturing, with a set the goal of achieving 85 percent localization in defense manufacturing by the year 2032.
