The Telangana Congress government’s crop loan waiver has been criticized by Union Minister and state BJP president G Kishan Reddy, who claims that it is not fulfilling its promises.

Kishan Reddy launched a helpline at the state BJP office to assist farmers who have not yet benefited from the loan waiver and ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme as pledged by the Congress.

He emphasized that the loan waiver has not adequately benefited farmers and urged them to compile details of those who have and have not received the waiver, and send them to the Chief Minister and the BJP’s state office. Additionally, he highlighted that several promises made by the Congress party, such as bonuses for farmers, aid for tenant farmers, Rs 12,000 assistance for farm workers, and the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ investment support scheme, remain unfulfilled.

He appealed to Telangana farmers to question the Congress party and its leaders on these unmet promises. In response to this, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched the second phase of the government’s crop loan waiver scheme to benefit approximately 6.40 lakh farmer families, with an outlay of over Rs 6,198 crore.

The first phase of the waiver waived loans of up to Rs one lakh on July 18, and the second phase is set to waive loans of up to Rs 1.50 lakh. The government has announced that the third phase of the loan waiver will be implemented in August.
