Farmers to get compensation from Rs 15,000- Rs 35,000 per hectre
Aimed at providing immediate relief to flood-affected farmers, households, and businesses across Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced a comprehensive financial package to support recovery from the damage caused by the deluge.
The package includes compensation of Rs. 25,000 per hectare for farmers whose grain, cotton, sugarcane, and groundnut crops were damaged. Horticultural crops such as banana and turmeric will be compensated at a higher rate of Rs. 35,000 per hectare. For other crops, including bajra, green gram, black gram, red gram, ragi, maize, sesame, soybean, sunflower, tobacco, jute, korra, sama, and castor, Rs. 15,000 per hectare has been allocated.
For flood-hit households in Vijayawada, Rs. 25,000 will be provided to homes submerged in floodwaters for ten days, with residents on upper floors receiving Rs. 10,000. The assistance is not limited to Vijayawada alone, as Rs. 10,000 will be granted to families whose homes were submerged in other parts of the state. Small business owners, particularly those running grocery shops, will receive Rs. 25,000 in compensation, while Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will be eligible for compensation ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakh, depending on the severity of the damage.
Additionally, owners of two-wheelers will receive Rs. 3,000, and auto-rickshaw owners will be compensated with Rs. 10,000. Despite financial challenges, the Chief Minister assured the public that the government is committed to fulfilling its promises. The package also includes aid for fishermen who lost boats, handloom workers, and farmers whose cattle were lost.
