The State High Court has made an important announcement regarding the recruitment process for Group-4 posts undertaken by the Telangana State Government. The High Court has made it clear that the selection process will be subject to final judgment. It directed the government to file a counter within 10 days on creation of special reservation for transgenders. It is known that a notification has been issued in December 2022 regarding the filling of TGPSC Group 4 posts in Telangana.
A total of 8,180 posts will be filled under this notification. The general merit list has already been released in the ratio of 1:3. However, Dewat Srinu, Dewat Tanushree and three others from Suryapet district filed separate petitions in the High Court against the non-provision of special reservations for transgenders in this notification. A bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J Srinivasa Rao conducted the inquiry on Wednesday (September 4). L Ravichander, senior counsel for the petitioner, heard the arguments.
He recalled the judgment given by the Supreme Court in 2014 in the case of National Legal Services Authority vs Center to provide special reservations to transgenders in job appointments. The written test for Group 4 posts has already been completed and the selection process has reached the final stage. In this order, the counsel for the petitioner requested that the final results of the Group-4 posts be subject to the judgment of the High Court.
Later, Additional Advocate General Imran Khan, speaking on behalf of the government, asked for 10 days to file the counter. With this, the bench gave time to the government to file a counter. Besides, Group 1 issued interim orders on the declaration of final results. If the government declares the results in the meantime, it has been clarified that the appointments will be subject to the final verdict.
