Minister for IT and HRD Nara Lokesh emphasized the need for Andhra Pradesh to surpass other States in the speed of doing business, stating that timely action is crucial to attracting and retaining investments. Addressing second day of Collectors Conference at AP Secretariat on Thursday, Lokesh said, “All States in the country are fiercely competing to attract investments.

Andhra Pradesh must stand ahead by leaving others behind in terms of speed and efficiency,” Lokesh asserted during a meeting with district collectors. Lokesh highlighted the monitoring of significant investment proposals at the secretariat level, but pointed out delays in granting permissions for smaller investments in the MSME sector at the district level. He warned that such delays could drive potential investors to other States. Focus on job creation The minister reiterated the State government’s ambitious target of creating 20 lakh jobs, with 80 per cent of these expected to come from the MSME sector.

“District collectors must ensure that permissions for investments are granted swiftly, without negligence or delays spanning months or years. The process should be completed within days,” he emphasized. Lokesh urged the collectors to prioritize efficiency and speed in business facilitation to retain Andhra Pradesh’s competitive edge. He stressed that negligence at any level could result in the State losing investments to more proactive regions. “The speed of doing business should be our priority if we want to increase investments and create employment opportunities,” Lokesh said, setting a clear mandate for the administrative machinery.
