Minister for IT and HRD Nara Lokesh clarified in the Assembly that the Central Tribal University will be completed within the next two years at its originally designated site from 2019. Responding to questions by legislators Butchaiah Chaudhary and Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao on pending educational institutions under the Partition Act, Minister Lokesh criticized delays during the previous government’s tenure, citing a change in location that set back progress by five years.
Minister Lokesh highlighted that, under Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure from 2014-19, development was decentralized to address the unique strengths of each district. Industries like Kia Motors in Anantapur, electronics in Chittoor, wind turbines in Nellore, and renewable energy in Kurnool were prioritized, while IT and medical device sectors saw expansion in northern Andhra Pradesh. Educational institutions under the Partition Act, such as IIT Tirupati, IIM Visakhapatnam, and NIT Tadepalligudem, were also distributed across different regions.
Lokesh affirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development in diverse areas rather than concentrating funds in a single location. DSC 1998 vacancies to be addressed soon Minister Lokesh also addressed the issue of unfilled posts for candidates qualified under the 1998 DSC, stating that out of the 4,534 posts, 3,939 have been filled, with 595 still vacant. In response to a query from BJP legislator Vishnukumar Raju, Lokesh noted that these appointments under MTS do not include retirement benefits, with retirement set at age 60 as per regulations. Lokesh added that discussions with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would address any further concerns. Reflecting on TDP’s approach to education, Lokesh noted that 11 DSC exams were held under TDP leadership, resulting in the filling of over 1.5 lakh teacher posts, with 9 held during Naidu’s administration.
The government plans to release a new DSC notification soon and has set a target of creating 20 lakh jobs in five years, with Lokesh serving as the chairman of the Employment Sub-Committee. He assured that all vacant teacher posts would be filled by next year, promising an efficient DSC notification that addresses legal challenges and ensures timely recruitment.
